Role: Staff Engineer
Location: Latam
Signify are working with a fast growing global SaaS business looking for a Staff Engineer to join their engineering team. This is a senior individual contributor role with significant influence across the organisation you will shape the technical direction of our platform, raise the bar for engineering quality, and work closely with product to turn complex problems into elegant, scalable solutions.
This is not a management role, but it carries real weight. You will be the person others turn to when the hardest problems need solving, and your decisions will have a direct and lasting impact on how they build.
About the role
You will own the design and delivery of complex systems across our platform, working closely with product managers and designers to translate commercial objectives into technically sound, well-executed solutions. You understand that engineering exists to serve the customer, and you bring that perspective to every decision you make.
A core part of how you work is the intelligent use of AI tooling. You don't just use these tools occasionally they are a deliberate, structured part of your daily workflow, helping you move faster, think more clearly, and deliver higher quality work. You also understand the risks and limitations of these tools and know how to apply them responsibly.
You are comfortable with ambiguity, confident in your technical judgement, and experienced enough to know when to move fast and when to slow down and get it right.
Requirements
· More than 8 years of commercial experience in a product-focused engineering environment, working within fast-paced SaaS or technology businesses
· Deep expertise in one or more JVM languages Java, Kotlin, or Scala with a strong understanding of how to build robust, maintainable systems at scale
· Proven experience designing, building, and operating public or internal REST APIs, including documentation, versioning, and long-term ownership
· Strong system design skills, with the ability to architect distributed systems that are reliable, performant, and scalable across a global user base
· A track record of working closely with product managers and designers to shape requirements, challenge assumptions, and deliver outcomes that genuinely serve the customer
· Hands-on experience using AI tooling as part of your daily development workflow including code generation, debugging, planning, and review with a clear-eyed understanding of where these tools add value and where they introduce risk
· Experience setting and upholding engineering standards across code quality, testing, CI/CD, and architecture within a team or wider organisation
· Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
