We’re looking for a Mobile Development Manager to lead a squad responsible for building and improving consumer-facing iOS and Android applications. You’ll combine people leadership, technical guidance and delivery ownership to help the team deliver high-quality mobile experiences.
You’ll directly manage and develop iOS engineers, guide technical decisions and work closely with Product, UX, Quality Engineering and other technical teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Manage and develop iOS engineers through regular 1:1s, coaching, feedback, performance management and career development.
Provide technical guidance across architecture, design, code quality, maintainability, performance and delivery trade-offs.
Partner with Product Management, UX, Quality Engineering and Technical Program Management to define requirements, manage dependencies and deliver against priorities.
Improve squad delivery through effective planning, refinement, estimation, retrospectives and Agile practices.
Own squad reporting, including progress, delivery confidence, risks, blockers and improvement actions.
Promote engineering excellence through testing, code reviews, release readiness, observability and continuous delivery.
Contribute to mobile strategy, roadmap discussions, cross-team standards and a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
Experience managing and developing software engineers, including goal setting, coaching, performance conversations and career progression.
Proven experience delivering native iOS and/or Android applications and leading technical work across the software development lifecycle.
A track record of improving team delivery through Agile practices, meaningful metrics, stakeholder communication and continuous improvement.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical challenges and build alignment with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience delivering and operating consumer-facing mobile applications at scale.
Ability to provide credible technical guidance without needing to be the primary hands-on developer.
Strong proficiency in Swift and Objective-C, with experience using modern iOS technologies such as SwiftUI and Swift Package Manager.
Familiarity with native Android development, including Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and associated tooling.
Sound understanding of mobile architecture, design patterns, web services and APIs, concurrency, testing, CI/CD, release management and performance optimisation.
