Job title: DevOps Engineer
Job type: Contract
Contract Length: 6 months
Rate: 150-180 euros per day
Role Location: Fully Remote - Europe
Role and Responsibilities:
- Maintain Perl, Ruby, and Shell scripts that let customers deploy and configure our solution, run backups/restores, provide high availability, and handle other administrative tasks
- Plan and execute a migration of administrative scripts from Perl to Python or Ruby
- Maintain solution security by managing OS and software updates, implementing system hardening, and ensuring compliance with industry frameworks
- Build and manage the kickstarts that install our solution, currently based on Rocky Linux
- Administer and support CI/CD pipelines and build automation processes using Jenkins
- Automate PostgreSQL database backups/restores, deployments, and upgrades
- Support our team in quickly resolving customer issues as they arise
- Maintain and support on-premises infrastructure, including server room equipment, physical and virtual servers, storage, and networking systems
- Help transition our solution to containers
- Mentor other engineers
- Use only company-approved AI tools, in line with our documented AI usage policy
Job Requirements:
- Bash scripting plus at least one of Perl, Python, or Ruby (5+ years)
- Strong understanding of Linux (Rocky Linux/RedHat), RPM packaging and deployment, OS configuration, tuning, and hardening
- Experience building kickstarts or similar automated install tooling
- Experience designing and implementing Jenkins CI/CD pipelines
- Skilled at troubleshooting OS issues, configuration problems, authentication errors, and related software defects
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
