Software Engineer (C/C++) - Defence Sector

Fixed-term contract (12 months), permanent-track
Enschede, Netherlands (hybrid - 1-3 days a week onsite with flexibility)
€6,500 per month, plus pension contribution and 40 days paid annual leave

An established defence and security organisation based in the Netherlands, delivering systems used in national and allied defence programmes.

Project / Role Overview
This role sits within a software engineering team building and maintaining systems written in C and C++ for defence applications. You'll be based on-site in Enschede, working directly on software used in operational defence environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software in C and C++ for defence systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams on system requirements and integration
• Test, debug, and optimise code for reliability and performance in demanding operational environments
• Contribute to technical documentation and design reviews

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum 4 years' professional experience in C and C++ software development
• Prior experience working within the defence sector is required
• Based in or willing to relocate to Enschede, Netherlands for an on-site / hybrid role
