We’re looking for a talented and motivated mid-level Backend Engineer to join our clients exciting and expanding team. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining server-side logic, databases, and APIs. You’ll collaborate closely with key stakeholders, including product managers, engineers, and developers. You will work remotely from anywhere in Europe, on a B2B freelance contract (40 hours/week).

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain complex backend systems using Scala.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and leverage synergies.
• Review and test peers' work across all stages of development.
• Diagnose and resolve backend issues to ensure a seamless user experience.
• Build and maintain integrations with third-party tools.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience, with strong expertise in Scala.
• Experience with the Akka eco-system.
• Experience with PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Node.js, Typescript, or React.js is a plus.
• Nice to have: Experience with Docker & Kubernetes.
• Must be able to work in the EU without requiring sponsorship and happy to work as a freelancer.
