Job Title: Forward Deployed Engineer
Salary: $180K - $200K + Equity
Location: Bay Area, CA 

A rapidly growing AI company is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to build, deploy, and optimize production-grade AI systems used by enterprise clients. This role combines deep technical engineering with strategic execution, you’ll work directly with customers to integrate large-scale ML systems, refine data pipelines, and implement solutions that deliver measurable business impact.

You’ll operate across the full stack, from building scalable backend infrastructure to fine-tuning AI models and ensuring seamless deployment in enterprise environments. Beyond implementation, you’ll serve as a technical liaison between engineering, data science, and client teams, translating complex requirements into elegant, reliable systems that push the boundaries of applied AI.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy scalable AI and data infrastructure supporting real-time personalization and analytics at enterprise scale.

• Collaborate directly with customer teams to understand technical requirements, architect integrations, and deliver tailored AI solutions.

• Work hands-on across backend systems, APIs, and ML pipelines, bridging model development and production deployment.

• Translate product and business objectives into actionable technical designs, ensuring reliability, performance, and maintainability.

• Contribute to core system improvements, model integration workflows, and continuous deployment processes.

• Act as a trusted technical advisor for customers, helping shape implementation roadmaps and best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in backend, infrastructure, or applied ML roles

• Proficiency in Python, with strong familiarity across modern ML and data tooling

• Experience deploying ML systems or LLM-based applications in production environments

• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and containerization tools

• Excellent communication skills and proven success in customer-facing or cross-functional roles

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment with high ownership and autonomy
