Job Title: Team Lead - Data

My client is are seeking an experienced Team Lead of Data Engineering to oversee and guide their data engineering team. This fully remote role within the EU requires a blend of hands-on technical expertise, people management skills, and strategic vision. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading teams, engaging with stakeholders, road mapping, architecture, and system design. Experience with high-traffic, highly distributed systems is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the data engineering team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
• Develop and execute roadmaps for data architecture and system design
• Engage with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and systems
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all systems
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to drive continuous improvement
• Handle people management tasks including performance reviews, career development, and hiring
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, ensuring alignment and transparency

Requirements:

• Proven experience in leading a team of data engineers
• Strong background in data architecture and system design
• Hands on experience with Scala
• Good knowledge of Kafka and Spark
• Demonstrated ability to engage with stakeholders and translate business needs into technical solutions
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
• Experience with high-traffic, highly distributed systems is a plus
